Lamoine Consolidated School VisitJanuary 29, 200Staff and students from Lamoine Consolidated School in Lamoine, ME visited the Center during a visit to The Jackson Laboratory. The visit was organized by Center Scientific Software Engineer Lucie Hutchins who participates in a women's volunteer group in Lamoine. The goal of the volunteer group is to promote math and science in the early stages of education. 26 students from 7th and 8th grades took part in the visit with several staff members from the school including the principal and two teachers. The aim of the tour was to answer students questions such as: What is a lab? What kind of work is performed in a lab? How many projects are being worked on at any one time? What are the various jobs or positions that are available at a lab and what are the skill set requirements to be hired by a lab? Schedule: |
