MSSM Genetics Research Training powerpoints:

Students worked as a team to produce a research proposal. The proposal framed a research question based on the student’s knowledge of important issues in mouse genetics. The powerpoints linked below were from lectures in support of these projects.

Summer student projects:

2007

  • David Witmer was a summer student from The Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, ME. David investigated gene expression patterns in multi-factorial DNA microarray data. The core of his study was the utilization of ANOVA-based statistical tests to test general and focused research hypotheses through overall F-tests and specific contrasts. Groups of co-expressed genes were resolved through hierarchical and k-means clustering analysis. Important biological processes associated with key factors were determined by statistical tests for association with gene ontology (GO) terms. Finally, he investigated relationships between gene expression levels and phenotypic response patterns.

2006

  • Arielle Torres worked with CGD resources this summer under the guidance of Dr. Graber.
  • Luis Zapata worked with CGD resources this summer under the guidance of Dr. Churchill and Dr. Shockley.
